Discussion: ad riddled apps
This is really something thats been bothering me for a while but im going to go ahead an ask anyways. Why does the playstore have all of these fake knock off apps that just waste peoples time? Im sorta looking at apps that are like app bounty you know those apps that earn you points for downloading and playing apps all while being rittled with ads for no reason at times.
I understand though that apps like zedge would have ads and to be fair they're really well spaced out and is not in your face everytime you touch your phone and thats ok cause I'll gladly support an app dev that provides free sounds and ringtones.
Then there is apps like Codes For PSN and im already hearing it "It's Obviously fake" and i know but its just horrible to know these kind of apps exist that cause you to waste your time watching an ad storm to reach enough points to get a $100 code and my spouse did this and this was back in june when she redeemed it and it said within 24-72 hours you will recieve your code in your inbox..... Still waiting to this day and i even tried to contact the devs just to see what would happen and i immediately got an auto-reply from google saying the Email does not exist.
So you're wondering why complain about an app with ads when its not doing anything? Well I looked into it only to find out that app devs get ad revenue for each ad watched, every decent rating, everytime the app is downloaded and installed, etc. So when you think about it these devs in a sense scammed google and honestly if the app doesn't promise what it does or is beyond broken and has no plans of fixing it then it needs to be reported and removed from the play store.
Another example can be calculator apps or really any app that serves as a basic function to your phone im pretty sure theres gonna be a "contains ads" mark on it and i have to ask why? Why give a basic funtion ads to the point to where you open a flashlight app cause you need to see something immediately and before you can turn it on you get an unskippable 30 second ad and once thats done you can then hit the button again to turn it on. Like why?
Feel free to share your story of any apps you came across that had pointless reasons to use ads or even apps that don't do what the say.
