How do you guys feel about Google and privacy?

While it is true that they sucked in the past before Android 6.0, right now I feel like they are doing very well. Most especially considering the new Android P Privacy (lol) features. Android might not be as secure as iOS but it's getting there IMHO. That's more important to me than just dwelling on the past where features like granular permissions didn't exist yet. Just want to say that even though Google is on the same business as Facebook, I feel like I can trust google more with my personal data. By more I mean relative to facebook, not that everyone should trust these companies 100%. (This is for those overly conscious about privacy that might call me out, not that it is a bad thing.) But then again I am just a casual who doesn't know much about this subject well. How do you guys feel about Google with regards to privacy compared to like Facebook and Apple? Timing sports events using frames.

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J Was thinking that sports that use a clock (really I think basketball is the prime example) would make more sense using frames instead of seconds. When you consider things like instant replay it would make the most sense since the officials would be reviewing footage that breaks down into exact frames. That would make the calls more accurate. I have the U.S. Honor View 10, short review and AMA

So far I've been very impressed. I bought the black v 10. I was coming from a snapdragon 616 phone so I guess that helps.😋 Camera And it's portait mode is really good. Selfy cam is average. Faceunlock and the FP reader are very fast. Screen gets very bright. It charges insanely fast, and I ended the day with 40% left. Glitches I found so far is I can't control Spotify from the lockscreen and notification won't expand on the lock screen either, hopefully these get fixed. Nova launcher works fine. I'm probably gonna put a custom ROM on when they become more stable. Submitted March 30, 2018 at 11:14AM by y0shi12 https://ift.tt/2GJ4ZT4 https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Why Do the Top Tablet Manufacturing Companies Such as Samsung and Apple, for the Latest and Newest "Flagship" Tablets, Always Receive Previous Generation Chipsets?

Specifically, Im talking about Samsung and Apple, because not only is the Exynos(or Snapdragon) and A chips, competitors, so are the devices they inhabit. Perhaps more importantly, these two companies, up until now, were the only ones to release non-gimmicky, Consumer Grade Premium Tablets, to the market. I remember a time when tablets were a complete joke to me, useless compared to a laptop, I used to think. Today, my usage of a Tablet over a PC, is something like, 10 to 1. They were able to transform Tablets from just a gimmick, to an actual suitable alternative to PCs. Trading Power for convenience, and casual usage mainly. Still, it seems they increasingly become more work/business, and gaming capable. The Stylus's increasingly become as useful as Mouses are to the PC. Now, on to what puzzles me so much about all this. Tablets are arguably much more demanding then smartphones, they are on average(blind estimation) 5 x as large. Of course this is highly variable, but you get

I'm using the 11,000mAh Oukitel K10 as my daily driver. These are the results of my battery life in the first 3 days. Ask me anything about the device =)

https://imgur.com/a/K0NHA I initially took the phone off charge at 6.10am on Tuesday morning. These screens were taken when I plugged it in at about 8pm on Thursday night. Whilst at work, I'm not using the phone a lot bar messaging, but it was taking advantage of the WiFi to download some nice meaty games. Outside of that, Bluetooth was on a lot for gym and car (no headphone jack, sadly). I was also streaming a fair bit in the evening - football matches live, or catching up on Gotham/YouTube subs. There was also a smattering of gaming in the name of Pokémon Duel and Score Match. Oh, and the battery was full again a few hours. I'm bloody loving never worrying about battery again. Feel free to ask me anything about this device! Submitted March 30, 2018 at 01:24PM by THE_LOUDEST_PENIS https://ift.tt/2GDC7M2 https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Would Android benefit from removing sideloading?

Would Android benefit if sideloading was removed? Looking at a lot of malware on Android the attack vector seems to be third party markets or sideloading. Do you think Android would benefit from removing sideloading? They probably cannot remove third party stores or sideloading completely but if google decided to remove sideloading from their phones that uses google store don't you think a lot of the more inexperienced user would benefit from it? I don't want it for myself but I must admit that I think it would be a plus for the vast majority of users. It seems like more and more OEMs lock their bootloaders and this is the next step. Crunchyroll’s first game is unsurprisingly based on an anime

Image
Crunchyroll announced DanMachi – Memoria Freese, the first game under its Crunchyroll Games brand. The game is based on the DanMachi anime. Memoria Freese is now available as a free download. It might have had sketchy beginnings, but Crunchyroll has grown to become a legitimate anime streaming and manga reading network. It would make sense, then, that the service’s first game is based on manga-turned-anime series Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? At its core, DanMachi – Memoria Freese is a 2D dungeon-crawler RPG that lets you build, upgrade, and customize your party and includes turn-based battles. The game features an original storyline based on the anime’s first season, though I have not played enough of the game to decipher what that storyline is. The game certainly looks great, however, and ran with little to no hiccups on my Galaxy S9 Plus . Even the voice acting, which can easily be an afterthought in a free-to-play title, is up to par and is done by th

Could your future smartphone be made of wood?

Image
Smartphones are dreamily thin, composed mostly of metal and glass materials which aren’t always well-suited to the rough and tumble of everyday life. The industry is always on the lookout for new materials. We’ve seen a progression from plastic to aluminum and aerospace-aluminum alloys, to stainless steel, ceramics, and even titanium reinforcements. While metal designs tend to be highly durable and enhance heat dissipation from warm processors and batteries, they struggle with shielding. The metallic backs on phones — such as the classic HTC M8 and M9 phones — prevent wireless charging from working and reduce the sensitivity of antennas. Ceramics are another good material option with helpful advantages like superior hardness to resist scratching. They also tend to be more brittle, which can be a problem on a device dropped as frequently as a smartphone. We have seen companies dabble with wood on smartphones in the past. Motorola’s 2014 Moto X offered a wood backing as an altern

Google will use machine learning to predict Final Four winner

Image
Google will use machine learning to predict the winners of the NCAA Final Four. Once it has its prediction ready, it will post an ad during halftime announcing who it thinks will win. Google will use real-time data from the game as well as historical sports data to generate its predictions. If you’ve placed any bets on the upcoming NCAA Final Four college basketball games, you might want to talk to Google before placing any more. That’s because Google will be using machine learning to determine which teams will win the Final Four games, processing both past data and data that’s happening in real time as the games progress. We can all agree that no matter how lucky you think you are when it comes to predicting basketball games, Google’s machine learning systems are probably better. Google teamed up with NCAA late last year to load almost a hundred years of sports data into Google Cloud Platform . Using that data combined with real-time information rolling in as the g

What does a dollar-saving coupon plugin really cost?

Image
What does a free coupon really cost? Internet commerce practically runs on coupons, coupon plugin, vouchers, and promotional codes, with a number of dedicated sites, platforms, and tools like Honey and  InvisibleHand to help you save at checkout. It’s a marketing tactic dating back to the 19th century, when  Asa Candler used coupons  to help popularize the beverage company he bought, “distributing thousands of coupons for a complimentary glass of Coca-Cola.” Obviously Candler’s efforts were a success — perhaps you’ve heard of Coca-Cola — and today there are very few e-retailers that don’t offer the chance to “apply a code” before buying something online. Plenty of savvy users take this opportunity to do a quick Google search for an easy way to save some money, with millions of codes posted and available for free on a multitude of websites. More savvy online shoppers don’t even search for coupons anymore, but use a coupon plugin loaded into their browser, which automatically scans t

Samsung Galaxy S5 + 6 months service under $200!

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is a phone close to my heart. Android Authority is your cutting edge guide to the latest Android devices , but it doesn’t mean we can’t get a bit sentimental now and again. Why are you getting all misty eyed? I admit it’s strange, but I love this phone. There’s one dutifully sitting on the desk next to me right now. When the S8 came out, I stuck with the S5 . When I had it stolen in South America, I sourced a new one in the next city. It’s the phone for me. Ok it’s not going to give you the mind-blowing levels of functionality that the new S9 can boast, but it still holds its own in most of the metrics .  Samsung Galaxy S5 Spec: Android 5.0 Lollipop 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Qualcomm® Snapdragon processor Rear camera: 16 megapixel; Auto Focus with Flash & Zero Shutter Lag, BIS Front camera: 2 megapixel, Full HD recording @30fps with Zero Shutter Lag, BIS Screen: 5.1 inch Full HD Super AMOLED (1920 x 1080) display, 441 ppi 16GB of Internal Memory Mi

Almost all details confirmed for Moto G6 line via retail listing

Image
Droid Life A Hungarian retail site just posted listings for the Motorola Moto G6 , Moto G6 Plus , and Moto G6 Play . With the information provided in the listings , we have confirmation of almost all specs for the upcoming mid-range Motorola phones. The two details we’re missing are the most important, though: release date and price. The Hungarian retail site Alza.hu gives us the full line of specs for all three devices as well as images (which we’ve already seen ), but no prices and no availability dates. So, unfortunately, until Motorola makes an official announcement, we are in the dark on those points. Editor's Pick More Motorola Moto G6 details leaked, with new photos TENAA We won’t know for certain until at least next month, but we already have so many leaks and rumors on the upcoming Motorola Moto G6, G6 Plus, and G6 Play that we probably won’t … However, the very fact that this retail establishment posted the phones for pre-order purposes means that an anno

Every Android phone should have this Huawei P20 Pro feature

Essential , Sharp , and Apple all have something in common. They were the first companies to adopt the notch , carving out an extra sliver of screen real estate and popularizing  the design in current smartphones. Like it or not, the notch is here to stay. Companies like OnePlus already revealed it’ll offer a notch in its upcoming OnePlus 6 . The notch is a little like Marmite — you either love it or you hate it. I’ve used the iPhone X for a few months and can safely say I’m not the biggest fan of it. To my dismay, the Huawei P20 Pro also brings the notch, but you can turn it off. The phone’s display settings menu includes options for the notch. Here you can actually turn it off, disabling the extra pixels above the regular display and rounding the corners to make it look like a regular phone screen. Personally, I like the look of it both ways. Over the last few days, I’ve alternated between having the notch and disabling it (as we work on our full Huawei P20 P
