The revolution of LEDs and how it "should" completely transform TVs

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J Following the announcement made by Corsair at CES 2019 on their new RGB technology called Capellix seems really impressive for multiple reasons. 1) it's great features which I'm gonna call "big three" • Efficiency • Brightness • Power consumption 2) It's incredible small form size factor 3) Flexibility The way TVs work is to have a fluorescent ( these guys for any old timers :) as a backlight (at least this is the case with LCD TVs), light travels to a polariser panel which stops any vertical polarised light and allows horizontal polarised light into a liquid crystal (will talk about it later) after that is another polariser, this time it's vertical. Which means it will block the horizontal light that the first polariser allowed and will only allow vertical light. This mean no light will pass it right? But it does, that because of the liquid crystals. In short terms, etched glass is placed on the back and front of those crystal

Tested Samsung S10 cameras vs Pixel 3 in retail store

Unfortunately I have no footage, but I made some interesting observations I wanted to share: The S10 Selfie Camera does have some wide angle, just not as much as the pixels dedicated second camera. Also, even with the beauty filter turned off, it's nowhere as real to life (which to some is unpleasing) as the Pixels Selfie Camera. The 2x Telephoto lense was somewhat of a let down as imo it was only as good if not worse than the Pixels digital zoom. However I was in a somewhat dim retail store, so results might vary. The S10 camera was struggling with reflections when taking shots of something that was covered in glass, whereas the pixel wasn't showing any reflections at all. I have pre-ordered an S10 as I was about to renew my contract anyways and got a good deal on it. But whether or not I'll replace my pixel comes down to real life camera performance. Will definitely have to do some testing before making a decision. Submitted February 27, 2019 at 02:10PM b

Adoptable Storage (APPS 2SD) not a feature in ZenFones

I contact asus customer service to ask why i wasn't able to move app to sd on my new zenfone max (ZB555KL). They gave me the following answer: "Also moving forward, Adoptable Storage (APPS 2SD) will not be a feature made available for our ZenFones. For the following reasons:   *Creates inflexibility with MicroSD cards. Customers will lose out on portability for external storage functions if the feature is implemented." I don't know if this old news but it is new to me. I had a zenfone 5 (the old one) for about 3-4 years and on that phone i was able to move app to sd. I thought that was a give feature of android. For me this is a dead breaker to leave asus phone and look for something else. Too bad, at least for me these phones were good and reasonably priced. Redmi Note 7 Pro launched in India with Snapdragon 675, 128GB of storage, and USB-C

Image
Xiaomi just introduced a second smartphone in the Redmi Note 7 series . Launched minutes ago on stage in India , the new Redmi Note 7 Pro packs a Snapdragon 675 processor, USB-C , new colors, and other improvements. The Redmi Note 7 Pro looks very similar to the Redmi Note 7 ; the phone is available in Space Black, Nebula Red, and Neptune Blue, and all three feature subtle gradient finishes. One welcome outward change is the use of a USB-C connector for the first time. Inside, the Snapdragon 660 from the Redmi Note 7 has been replaced with a beefier Snapdragon 675, featuring the Kryo 460 processor. The processor is coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage, which is a first for the Redmi Note family. Out of the box, the Redmi Note 7 Pro will be running MIUI 10 , based on Android 9 Pie . The phone supports Quick Charge 4 and is compatible with chargers that output up to 18W. However, the device is bundled with a 10W charger in the retail box. The battery capacit

5 best hunting apps for Android!

Image
Hunting isn’t quite the necessity it once was. We have food readily available these days. However, that doesn’t stop people from going out and engaging in the occasional hunt. It’s a physical activity so there isn’t too much of a use for a smartphone. That doesn’t mean there are no uses, though. From what we can tell, there are three types of hunting apps. The first is communicative so you can talk to fellow hunters or members of your party who aren’t right next to you. You can also find various hunting-specific maps with property lines and such on it. The Volvo Polestar 2, the first car with Android Automotive, is now official

Image
Volvo At CES 2019 , we got word that Volvo’s first electric car would also be the first vehicle with Google’s standalone version of Android Auto called Android Automotive (or Android HMI). At last, the car manufacturer has officially unveiled the Polestar 2  (via The Verge ). The Polestar 2 is a sedan-crossover that is set to compete directly with the Tesla Model 3. Included in the car is a 78kWh battery pack which should allow the vehicle to travel around 275 miles on a full charge. Additionally, the dual electric motors put out 300kW which equates to roughly 408 horsepower. We’ll let you decide if you like the look of the Volvo’s first all-electric vehicle. What we’re interested in is the Android-powered infotainment system. As mentioned, the Polestar 2 will be the first car running Android Automotive . We can’t see much from the Volvo-provided photos of the 11-inch screen, but it’s apparent that the floating display will play a central part to the in-vehicle experienc

Samsung Galaxy S10 pre-orders no longer include free Galaxy Buds

Image
Up until now, pre-ordering either the Samsung Galaxy S10 or Galaxy S10 Plus would net you a free pair of Galaxy Buds . However, it looks like Samsung ran out of its free wireless earbuds for pre-orders . Instead of Galaxy Buds, Samsung now offers a $130 eCertificate that can be used towards “select products” on Samsung’s website and the Shop Samsung app. Samsung didn’t say what those products are, but we assume you can spend the $130 on accessories for your Galaxy S10 or Galaxy S10 Plus. You could probably also pick up the Galaxy Buds when they go on sale March 8. It’s not exactly unprecedented — the fine print of the promotion stated that the free Galaxy Buds were available “while supplies last.” That means Samsung likely allotted a certain number of its wireless earbuds for Galaxy S10 pre-orders and that supply ran out. Motorola RAZR foldable phone is still coming soon

In the past week, we have seen a flood of upcoming foldable phone announcements from Samsung , Huawei , and others. One of the biggest names in smartphones, Motorola , also has plans for such a device, and it may be coming sooner than you might think. Engadget spoke to Motorola VP of Global Product Dan Dery at MWC 2019 this week. Latest Huawei P30 and P30 Pro rumored renders show off some pretty colors

Image
WinFuture The Huawei P30 and Huawei P30 Pro are two of the most anticipated smartphone launches of 2019. Today, some new press renders that reportedly show off both phones were posted by the WinFuture site, and the first thing that stand out is that both phones have some cool looking colors and gradients on the back. The renders also show off the triple camera setups on the Huawei P30 Pro. If these images are indeed accurate, that means that previously leaked case images for the P30 Pro, which showed the phone as having four camera sensors in the back , are in fact incorrect. However, these new images for the P30 Pro do show what appears to be a square camera sensor at the bottom of the triple camera setup. WinFuture claims this sensor is, in fact, a telephoto lens with support for up to 10x magnification.
