Truly Bezel-less (no notch) Phone with Stereo Speakers Solution/Concept

Yesterday, alleged Pixel 3 screen protectors were leaked and showed that Pixel 3 XL will have a notch. If you haven't seen it, here's a link to the post. As you can see, it seems as if it has a bottom bezel along with a notch, which many deem to be bad. However, since Pixel 3 will likely have stereo speakers, people in the comments have pointed out that the bottom bezel is necessary for stereo speakers to even be present on the phone. That got me thinking of a solution.

I thought of a simple, yet odd, solution. Instead of having the stereo speakers facing forward on the device, why not just have them on the top and bottom of the phone? And so I made a (sloppy) concept that showed this. I basically just got the Pixel 2, made it truly bezel-less (that means no notch and no front camera, however that's solved in the picture) and tried to just show how the top and bottom of the phone would look if it had stereo speakers.

As you can tell from the image, I tried making the speakers at the top and bottom, similar to how they appear on a lot of tablets and Windows 2 in 1 machines. My question to r/Android is that would this even be a good idea?

First off, the speakers might not sound as good compared to if they were facing towards you, but nevertheless, they would still be stereo speakers.

The second, and more obvious problem with this, is that it would be easier to block the speakers since they're on the side. I tried to 'fix' this by making the speakers closer to the center of the sides (near the front camera/type-c port), so that when holding the phone it wouldn't be as hard to block.

Thirdly, and lastly, to some, it might look ugly. I can totally see this, as I don't think I've ever seen a phone do this, nor have any speakers at the top side of the phone at all.

So, as I stated earlier, what are your guys' opinion on this? If this were implemented in any phone, I don't think I'd mind it. The tradeoff for having the issues that I listed above would be a truly bezel-less screen, which I like.
