Why aren't phone screens made of sapphire crystal?
This baffles me. A phone which costs a $1000 should have sapphire crystal. Like I do not see why this is not feasible. Yes it may be expensive but it is such a good material. I am not asking for the whole device to be made of sapphire crystal just the screen as a cost saving measure. Sapphire crystal doesn't scratch as gorilla glass or some compound of sapphire glass. I really do look forward to the day where I can carry my phone without a screen protector without worrying about scratches. Tissots have sapphire crystal glass why can't phones? I know HTC did have a variant of the U ultra I think it was with sapphire crystal but that's really it. The iPhone has some compound containing sapphire crystal but isn't fully sapphire crystal as a cost saving measure. If phones are going to have 2.5D glass the least manufacturers can do is resort to sapphire crystal. What do you guys think?
