My 2017 - The year of switching, and the P10.

31 of December and 2017 is soon to end. For me it has been a year of smartphones, and to be honest a year of unfulfillment...

I thought I share my story, please let me know yours.

Going into 2017 I had a OnePlus 3 (not T, and I was still pissed about that). Before that I had a OnePlus one and I felt home with the OnePlus phones. However I got a new job were I was allowed to choose my one phone and decided to choose a phone for its camera since that was what the OnePlus was lacking. Since I was on a budget (kind of) I went for the Huawei P10.

The Huawei P10 was actually a great phone and the camera was great, I am definitely not a pro photographer but I really liked the results. My only problem we that coming from OnePlus, the phone developed for the entusiast i felt that the P10 was a little "meh".

I therefore, went back to OnePlus by purchasing the OP5. Holy moly was that a snappy phone. Super fast and fluid software and a much better camera them in the 3T. However, seeing all bigger brands (Samsung, Apple, Huawei, google pixels, and even OnePlus with its 5T (yep, pissed again) ) I felt the OnePlus 5 did lack that extra which many 2017 flagships had. (Read: small bezels, even better camera, and so on) I sold my OP5 and bought me an Essential phone.

The Essential phone is my daily driver right now. I love the screen and build. Love the footprint and the software. It is a really good phone, over all. It does have its problems and one of those are definitely the camera. My first impression of the camera was that t was Soo much better than all the reviews and Reddit threads stated. I got some really good results with the Essential phone. Then came the Christmas and with that a lot of low light indoor photography which showed how much the camera is behind phones as the Pixel, Note 8, iPhone 8+/X, Huawei mate 10 pro (or even P10).

So what I am going for here is that the Huawei P10 is a way better phone then it is recognized for. It is an overall very good phone software and performance wise and with a camera that is actually quite good it wins my small (very small) phone of the year award.

How was your phone year and which is your favorite?
