Where does computing technology go from here?

I was recently having a discussion with a number of academics (semiconductor/hardware oriented) and an interesting question came up: What does society expect from computing technology in the future (and what should we focus our research efforts on to get there)?

Some common ideas, like self driving cars, came up, but a group of academics isn't "society." So, while reddit isn't a perfect cross-section of society either, I though I'd ask the question here. What do you expect computers to be able to do in the future that they struggle with today?
