What is happening with the prices?!

Is it just me or has nobody realised how ridiculous phone prices are now?!

A bit of a backstory onto why I'm writing this thread.

STORY

I was looking up new phones that have recently released like the Samsung s10+, Pixel 3, Iphone etc and the prices on them when viewing just looked absolutely absurd when you compare the things you can buy for the money. I remember phones used to be no more than £400 for the highest end. Now they're pretty much touching the £1k mark. WHAT THE F***! My GF recently reminded me that I actually bought my Pixel 2 XL for £800, and I just couldn't believe that I could do such a thing, so I had to look back at the release date cost and in actual fact it was true! I spend a whole £800 on the day of release for this phone.

Now I must say the phone is amazing and I "think" I don't regret buying this but I think everyone has somewhat been brain washed with the prices for these devices. I will NEVER buy a phone for this price ever again. Looking at the market there are many phones very similar to the Pixel 2 XL for A LOT less. This isn't a rant on Google or any of the big companies, but we seriously need to do something about this. We can't let people spend so much money on these phones.

I don't know if I'm the only person on this boat, Can anyone else agree? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!

Removable batteries discussion

I have always preferred phones with removable batteries so far, thinking that it will most certainly be the first component in a device to fail. I have even advised people in my circles to do so, until a recent event. A family member of mine still uses a HTC DesireX. Recently, he wanted to replace his battery because of swelling. He bought two matching batteries from different sellers. The problem is, even though they were unopened/sealed packages of original batteries, they were not holding much charge. (I suppose they waited on a shelf for some time.) This made me question myself. In the past, I have used nokia smartphones, and they were easy to replace with fresh batteries, since almost all nokias used the same battery type. Now with android, its all over the place. Is it even worth it to go for a removable battery device when you cant find a replacement a couple of years after you purchase it? What do you think/prefer? PS. I realize this is not exactly fault of android OS, but ...
