Xiaomi Mi A1 sequel may have been uncovered with Snapdragon 660 chip

Image
Recent firmware files have hinted that Xiaomi is currently developing two new Android One devices. The Xiaomi Mi A2 may be based on the Xiaomi Mi 6X and come with a Snapdragon 660 SoC. The other handset may be an Android One Xiaomi Redmi phone with a Snapdragon 625 chip. Xiaomi may be preparing a Mi A1 successor, according to a report from XDA . The speculation is based on a new device’s firmware files, and it looks like it would be an Android One handset like the original. The smartphone, codenamed “jasmine_sprout” and possibly being released as the Xiaomi Mi A2, would reportedly arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset. The files also suggest it may be based on the recently revealed Xiaomi Mi 6X (like the Mi A1 was based on the Mi 5X) and would run Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, with Project Treble support. Editor's Pick Comment: Xiaomi’s profit margin cap doesn’t mean a thing Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun made the surprise announcement yesterday that the Beijin...

HTC U12 leaks again in alleged new hands-on photos

Image
Newly leaked photos allegedly show off the upcoming HTC U12. The photos appear to confirm many of the phone’s features, including two selfie cameras and more. HTC will reportedly announce the U12 sometime in May. With HTC priming the upcoming U12 to be a beast of a smartphone, alleged hands-on photos of the upcoming flagship look to have made their way to HTC Taiwan News’ Facebook profile . Down to the two selfie cameras and two rear cameras, the photos seemingly line up with previous rumors. Even the dual LED flash unit, rear fingerprint sensor, and lack of a headphone jack line up with what we have seen and heard of the U12. If you look closely at one of the pictures, the U12 looks to feature separated volume buttons on the same side as the ridged power button. You will also notice the tall display without the controversial notch. However, we do not know whether the shiny exterior is due to HTC’s use of either glass or metal. The U11 Plus featured a glass b...

What do you think should all $100 dollars/entry level phones have 5 years from now?

And compare it to Redmi 5A. It has to be at least on par with Redmi 5A and not clearly worse. Oh and it has to have flaws too considering the budget. It should be possible to purchase a more expensive phone (up to $200) that's even more value for money than the theoretical entry level phone. Personally, I know this is a meme at this point but SD 625 on entry level phones would be amazing. The SD 450 works too I guess since it's basically the same thing. I really hope the chip trickles down to entry level phones and won't stay stagnant to the $200-300 range. Same goes for SD 425. SD 425 should really be retired 5 years from now. USB C is a must too obviously. Submitted April 29, 2018 at 07:34AM by Zangetszu https://ift.tt/2HCnNVD https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

The LG G7 ThinQ looks to bring the boom with the Boombox Speaker

Image
LG announced that the upcoming G7 ThinQ will feature a “Boombox Speaker” that allows for louder sound with more bass. The G7 ThinQ will also strengthen the headphone jack with audiophile-friendly features. LG plans to announce the G7 ThinQ May 2 in New York and May 3 in South Korea. Having already teased the G7 ThinQ ‘s incredibly bright display , LG turned its attention to another of the upcoming flagship’s features: the “Boombox Speaker.” Speaking with Engadget , LG claimed the Boombox Speaker increases the sound level by over 6dB and doubles the bass output relative to a typical smartphone. As a nice bonus, you can place the G7 ThinQ on a flat surface or box to further amplify the bass. LG accomplished this by having the Boombox Speaker rely on a special resonance chamber design within the G7 ThinQ. The chamber looks to be 10 times the size compared to previous generations and should allow for the aforementioned louder and bass-friendly sound. LG did not say whether the...
