Why isn't a password required to shut down the phone? It would aid in tracking stolen phones.
Thought of this today when my buddy's phone got stolen.
Most of us don't turn our phones off all that often, so it wouldn't be a big inconvenience. But on the plus side, it would prevent thieves from powering down the phone to prevent tracking.
It wouldn't impact the long-press-to-hard-reset feature, as that just power cycles the phone and it comes back on again.
This seems like a no-brainer to me. If this were added, the only workaround thieves would have is to put the phone in recovery mode, but most don't know how to do this and I imagine a large percentage of opportunistic thieves would never learn to do so. I think it would increase the likelihood that your phone remains trackable when it's stolen.
