How come “charging stations” for phones are rare in 2019?

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J I find it so odd that it’s almost impossible to get your phone charged unless you have a charger out in public. Not that it’s anybody else’s responsibility - but i just don’t get how if EVERYONE has an iPhone/Android (and the fact that they are almost needed day to day) but there are seldom places to charge your phone publicly if you don’t have a charger on you. Even in big cities. I almost think restaurants/coffee shops/etc should have free charging areas for your phone, just like a bathroom, as long as you purchase something in a store. One time I was in Stockholm and I was still using an iPhone 5s and my phone died. I couldn’t find a single place to charge or buy a charger. Tl;dr We’ve always had smoking areas/public restrooms/water fountains/gas stations - but no places to charge a phone (even at a cost). Why do you think that is?
